DWD Jenoptik Ceilometer @ Jülich

In 2009 the TR32 could lent a Jenoptik CHM 15K Ceilometer owned by DWD.

The instrument was serviced by Martin Lennefer from the Meteorological Institute of the University Bonn.

It was installed at the FZ-Jülich at 50°54'41.72"N 6°24'27.18"E

The instrument delivers the data as ascii stream via its RS485 interface. This datastream was deviated directly into ascii files. These raw files contain alternating the ASCII message string with the cloud heights and the uuencoded data message. Data was extracted and written into one netcdf file per day - each of them 23MB.

Quicklooks:

The plots show the signal to noise ratio (SNR) as delivered by the instrument (logarithmic grayscale from black (SNR=1) to white (SNR=100)), the height of the lowest detected cloudbase (<html><font color=“red”>red</font></html> dots) and the boundary layer height as determinded by the instrument (<html><font color=“blue”>blue</font></html> dots).
