Scientific Goals
The Barbados Cloud Observatory operated by the Max-Planck Institute for Meteorology aims to collect continuous observations of shallow marine cumulus clouds. Specific goals are:
- to develop a long term database of shallow cumulus cloud statistical properties
- to investigate frequency and intensity of rain due to trade cumulus
- to compare ground based and satellite based measurements of cloud statistical properties and associated precipitation
- to understand interaction between aerosols and cloud properties
Location
<html> <p> The site is located on the east coast of the island of Barbados, on a site called Deebles Point, where it is exposed to the relatively undisturbed easterly (trade) winds. <ul>
