Disdrometer Network
Micro Rain Radar (mrr_berl) :
The MRR MPI_1 owned by the Max-Planck-Institute Hamburg (Peters) is operated the Meteorological Institute of the Free University of Berlin. Local contact is (Eberhard Reimer).
Micro Rain Radar (mrr_berg) :
The MRR MIUB_2 owned by Meteorological Institute Bonn (Simmer) is operated at the water authority organisation Erftverband. The X-Band radar Bonn performs regular elevation scans over the site.
Micro Rain Radar (mrr_bonn) :
One MRR MIUB_1 owned by Meteorological Institute Bonn (Simmer) has returned from Africa in February 2007 and started obesertvations back in Bonn.
At MIUB further instruments (parsival disdrometer, X-Band radar, ceilometer, met station ..) are operated.
Micro Rain Radar (mrr_hamb) :
The MRR UHH_2 owned by the University of Hamburgs Meteorological Institute (Peters) is operated at Hamburg.
Micro Rain Radar (mrr_helg) :
The MRR UHH_1 owned by the University of Hamburgs Meteorological Institute (Peters) is operated on Helgoland together with IFM-Kiels (bumke) optical disdrometer ODM470_2.
Micro Rain Radar (mrr_kiel) :
The MRR MPI_2 owned by the Max-Planck-Institute Hamburg (Peters) is operated on the roof of the IFM-Geomar together with Kiels (bumke) optical disdrometer ODM470_1. Further instruments include ceilometer and weather station.
Micro Rain Radar (mrr_lich) :
The MRR owned by DLR Oberpfaffenhofen (Hagen) is continuing the observations of the AQUARadar campaign at the DLR receiving station Lichtenau together with a Joss-Waldvogel- and a Parsival disdrometer.
Micro Rain Radar (mrr_lind) :
The MRR owned by the German Weather Service DWD (Engelbart) is operated at the Richard-Assmann Observatory together with an optical didrometer FD12P. Many other observations are performed at Lindenberg
Micro Rain Radar (mrr_zing) :
The MRR MPI_3 owned by the Max-Planck-Institute Hamburg (Peters) is be operated at Zingst where long time series data exist.
Micro Rain Radar transsect (mrr_cop2, mrr_cop_2, mrr_cop3, mrr_cop4) :
The MRRS owned by FZK Karlsruhe (Handwerker), DWD (Seltmann), MPI_4 (Peters) and University of Cologne (Crewell) will be operated along a transect.
Each site will be equipped with a surface disdrometer. During COPS in summer 2007 two more MRR will be available.
