- You are not living in a free country if your pre-retirement medical care, via the ramifications of Obama Health Care, is dependent on the actions and whims of politicians.

- You are no longer living in a free country if politicians can defame and belittle Americans for simply having a different view, such as when Nancy Pelosi called all those opposed to Obama Health Care as being un-American, or when Howard Dean called all Tea Party members racists, or when Congressman Alan Grayson called all those opposed to Obama Health Care knuckle dragging Neanderthals.

- You are no longer living in a free country if the political class forces you spend your wealth on products and services it deems important, such as the requirement that every American must buy health care insurance via Obama Health Care.

- You are no longer living in a free country if the political class can allow corporations, unions, and PACs to pour billions and billions of dollars into politicians' re-election campaigns, in return for favorable political considerations (e.g. bailouts and corporate welfare) down the road, drowning out the opinions and needs of ordinary Americans.

So let's review. Politicians control our pocketbooks, our health, our retirement funding, who we vote for, our privacy, our property rights, and our ability to get a mortgage or student loan while calling us names if we dare to disagree with them. Hardly sounds like the traditional definition of a democracy to me.

Affordable care act is also known as Obama Health Care. It originally came back in 2010, when it was signed by U.S. President Barack Obama. The act has four main features, which differentiate it from rest of the insurance laws. One important thing to know about this act is that it's not free. It's a misconception that Obama Health Care is free for all. The main reason of considering it free is because of term “Universal healthcare” used by politicians. However, it means that every American should get insurance and it's because of the compulsory insurance act. Since, everybody is required to get this insurance, so it needs to be affordable for general public.

The Senate Bill also seeks to reduce out-of-pocket costs by setting guidelines for how much of the health costs can be shifted to a family within 200% of the poverty line. A family within 150% of the FPL cannot have more than 10% of their health costs incurred as out-of-pocket expenses. A family between 150% and 200% of the FPL cannot have more than 20% of their health costs incurred as out-of-pocket expenses.

The House plan subsidizes the cost of the plan and out-of-pocket expenses. The cost of the plan is subsidized according to the family's poverty level, decreasing the subsidy as the poverty level approaches 400%. The out-of-pocket expenses are also subsidized according to the poverty level at the following rates. The out-of-pocket expenses are subsidized initially and are not allowed to exceed a particular amount that will rise with the premiums for basic insurance.

There have already been noises coming from the health care industry that the largest insurers are getting set to raise rates in order to ensure they have enough money to comply with all of the changes of the Obama health care plan. This may be a bit shocking to some as one of the promises made early on in the reform process was that premiums would not increase. In fact, we were all told they would actually lower significantly.
