Prototype cumulus cases

This page is a showcase of results with DALES-ED(MF)n for prototype cumulus cases, as listed below. All simulations are performed in SCM-mode on microgrids, using an 8x8 grid with dx=dy=10km and a fixed timestep of dt=300 sec. The vertical resolution is dz=40m by default, unless stated otherwise. Performance for multiple variables is provided, including mean state and cloudy state but also details about the EDMF scheme. Default high-resolution LES results at dx=dy=50m on large 256x256 grids for the same cases are also provided, for reference.
