===== Scientific Goals =====
The **[[http://www.mpimet.mpg.de/en/science/the-atmosphere-in-the-earth-system/initiatives/barbadosstation.html|Barbados Cloud Observatory]]** operated by the [[http://www.mpimet.mpg.de/|Max-Planck Institute for Meteorology]] aims to collect continuous observations of shallow marine cumulus clouds. Specific goals are:
  * to develop a long term database of shallow cumulus cloud statistical properties
  * to investigate frequency and intensity of rain due to trade cumulus
  * to compare ground based and satellite based measurements of cloud statistical properties and associated precipitation
  * to understand interaction between aerosols and cloud properties
